Accounting and Business Course

Accountant In Business - 30 Hours

This course is to introduce knowledge and understanding of the business and its environment and the influence this has on how organisations are structured and on the role of accounting and other key business functions in contributing to the efficient, effective and ethical management and development of an organisation and its people and systems.

Audit and Assurance - 30 Hours

Students will develop knowledge and skills in the process of carrying out the assurance engagement and its application in the context of the professional regulatory framework.

Fundamental Accounting Principles - 30 Hours

Fundamental Accounting Principles is the foundation course in the preparation, communication, analysis and use of accounting information for making business decisions. In this course the student will learn how to maintain a basic set of account records, prepare financial statements and gain an understanding of merchandising operations accounting, accounts receivables, and in inventory, and plant asset accounting. Student mastery will be enhanced through the use of a large scale accounting practice set

Financial Accounting - 30 Hours

The objective of the program is to familiarize the students with basics of accounting, finance, banking transactions and taxation.

Financial Reporting - 30 Hours

Students will develop knowledge and skills in understanding and applying accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities, including groups, and how to analyse and interpret those financial statements.

Financial Management - 30 Hours

Financial Management studies corporate finance and capital markets, emphasizing the financial aspects of managerial decisions. It touches on all areas of finance, including the valuation of real and financial assets, risk management and financial derivatives, the trade-off between risk and expected return, and corporate financing and dividend policy. The course draws heavily on empirical research to help guide managerial decisions.

Management Accounting - 30 Hours

This course examines how managers use accounting information for their decision-making, planning and control responsibilities. Cost behavior, relevant information, the development of master and capital budgets and product costing practices are examined through the use of problems and cases. Although manufacturing settings are at the core of managerial accounting courses, non-profit, retail, wholesale, selling and administrative situations are also presented in a balanced, flexible way.

Performance Management - 30 Hours

This course is designed to enable students to explore effective processes and systems for managing performance at the individual, team and organization level. It will provide students with an understanding of the key role performance management plays in achieving corporate strategy and optimizing productivity. Within the scope of "managing performance" students will gain knowledge of how to measure and develop performance. Interactive opportunities will be provided to build skills needed to assist line managers in managing performance, including: establishing and communicating performance criteria; coaching for performance improvement; and conducting performance review discussions. This course will also examine the relationship between performance management and other HRM functions.
